BLOOD WORK

Nutritional Monitoring

Nutritional monitoring is essential following bariatric surgery to ensure that patients don’t develop nutritional problems in long-term. It should not be assumed that abnormal blood results are always directly related to the surgery itself, as there are many factors that can affect blood work results.

We are including the recommended blood tests and when to do them depending on the surgery.

Bypass and Duodenal Switch Patients:

**Blood work on the 3rd, 6th, 12th, 18th month post op and then every year:
Blood Chemistry (all elements, including electrolytes)
