A gastric sleeve, also known as sleeve gastrectomy, is a surgical procedure for weight loss and the treatment of obesity. During this procedure, a significant portion of the stomach is removed. This limits the amount of food a person can consume at one time, leading to reduced calorie intake and ultimately weight loss.
Who is it for? Sleeve gastrectomy is typically recommended for individuals who have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher or a BMI of 30 along with significant obesity-related health conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, or hypertension. It may also be an option for those who have not achieved successful weight loss through diet, exercise, and other non-surgical methods.
Recovery time? The patients at ALO Bariatrics have a hospital stay of 3 days and two nights. This gives them enough time to recover and get all the necessary tests done.
The expected weight loss following a gastric sleeve procedure can vary widely based on individual factors such as starting weight, adherence to post-operative guidelines, and overall health. On average, patients can anticipate losing about 50-70% of their excess body weight within the first year after surgery.
A gastric bypass, also known as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, is another surgical procedure used for weight loss and the treatment of obesity. It involves creating a smaller stomach pouch and rerouting a portion of the small intestine, leading to both restriction of food intake and reduced absorption of nutrients and calories.
Who is it for? Gastric bypass surgery can be suitable for individuals who have a BMI of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35-39.9 with significant obesity-related health conditions. It is also considered for those who have not achieved successful weight loss through other methods.

Expected weight loss after gastric bypass surgery can vary similarly to the gastric sleeve procedure, based on individual factors. On average, patients can anticipate losing around 60-80% of their excess body weight within the first year after surgery.
Revision surgeries for weight loss are procedures performed after a previous bariatric surgery has not led to the desired outcomes or has resulted in complications. These surgeries are often more complex than primary weight loss surgeries and require careful evaluation and consideration by a healthcare professional.
The expected weight loss and outcomes can vary widely based on individual circumstances and the reasons for the revision. It’s important to note that revision surgeries are generally considered more challenging and carry additional risks compared to primary surgeries. Scar tissue from the previous surgery, altered anatomy, and potential nutritional deficiencies must all be taken into consideration.
Recovery time? The patients at ALO Bariatrics have a hospital stay of 3 days and two nights. This gives them enough time to recover and get all the necessary tests done.
Who is it for? Revision surgeries are typically recommended for patients who have thoroughly explored and exhausted non-surgical options for addressing their weight loss concerns or complications. Candidates for revision surgeries should work closely with a healthcare professional who specializes in bariatric surgery to determine the most appropriate course of action.
Gastric Sleeve, also known as sleeve gastrectomy, has become one of our most popular weight-loss procedures because of its simplicity, affordability, and effectiveness. During the surgery, the doctor removes most of the stomach so all that is left is a sleeve-like pouch. With a smaller stomach, you will feel full faster, eat less, and potentially experience radical weight loss.

The American healthcare system is one of the most expensive in the world. Even in other countries with more affordable healthcare, the cost of bariatric surgery is simply too high for many patients. In Mexico, however, medical treatment can cost up to 80 percent less.
Even though treatment costs significantly less, you can still receive the same level of care in Mexico that you would in the United States. Our surgeons are leaders in their fields, and all of our facilities are modern, clean, and high-tech.
Why not make a vacation out of your life-changing procedure? The cities of Tijuana, Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta are popular tourist destinations that offer exciting cultural experiences. Our patients stay at luxurious hotels, and we ensure their safety and convenience by providing all on-the ground transportation.
All of our weight loss surgeries have the potential to achieve the same result: dramatic weight loss that leads to a much healthier life. However, not every surgery is well-suited for every patient. To help you determine which procedure is best for you, schedule a consultation with our experienced weight loss team.
During your initial consultation, one of our weight loss experts will ask questions about your lifestyle, weight loss goals, and medical history. Then, we will conduct a physical examination. At the end of your consultation, we will recommend whether a gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, or some other weight loss surgery is best for you.
